The M23 group opposing the Kinshasa government, which is part of the Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC), has launched a special operation against the Congolese army near the city of Goma.
This operation is taking place in areas very close to Virunga Park, where the Congolese army has been using the alliance
Minembwe Capital News has learned that the M23 operation began on Monday of this week, specifically on April 14, 2025.
M23 is not only conducting operations against the coalition of government forces, but is also carrying out raids in all areas suspected of harboring FDLR fighters and those from Wazalendo.
According to the information, these areas include Mutaho in the Kibati groupement within the Nyiragongo territory, as well as the Rusayo area.
It is also known that both of these areas were strongholds of the FDLR, a group that has committed atrocities against Tutsis in Rwanda and is also opposing the Rwandan government.
Additionally, we have learned that M23 was able to destroy houses in these areas that were hiding FDLR and Wazalendo members during this raid.
This M23 operation was initiated shortly after those armed groups closely collaborating with the Congolese government forces launched attacks in the areas surrounding the city of Goma, which is controlled by the M23 group.
There was also an attack carried out by these groups in the Kyeshero neighborhoods and other nearby areas in the city of Goma
