Numerous homes were burned down, and there was a significant population shift to other, more secure agglomerations.

In various villages, including Kazinga, Makondero, Kabingu, Katsihiro, and Bitoyi, January Kalahiri’s APCLS group is in conflict with the Nyatura/FF, Nyatura Abazungu, Nyatura FDDH, and Nyatura Kubohoza factions.

According to local reports, these local armed gangs would argue over who controls particular entities.

Alexis Bahunga, a provincial deputy elected from Masisi, denounces these hostilities and requests the provincial governor’s assistance in putting an end to them:

“I implore the provincial governor to be able to dispatch a special FARDC unit to the region to secure the inhabitants and put a stop to this cycle of violence. I continue to deplore and very strongly condemn these new pointless fights. I also ask the governor to have the authority to direct the Masisi territory administrator to set up a forum where the disputing parties and notables can meet”.
For a long-lasting peace in Masisi region, Alexis Bahunga also requests that the main characters “immediately cease hostilities and enroll in the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Recovery and Stabilization program (PDDR-CS)”.

Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) and the forces of MONUSCO decided to enhance their cooperation for the neutralization of the armed groups that are still engaging in violence against the populace as a result of these security alerts in Eastern DRCONGO on Tuesday, May 23.

This decision was made by the FARDC and the blue helmets during a gathering of the provincial security council on Tuesday, which was presided over by the governor and Mirhanda Filho, commander of the MONUSCO Forces, who was making his first visit to this province.

The two parties discussed the security situation in Ituri, where domestic and international armed organizations, notably the ADF, are wreaking havoc in a number of locations around the Irumu and Djugu areas.

They reaffirmed their commitment to working together to conduct military operations against these hostile forces during these meetings, which lasted for nearly an hour. This will guarantee the populace’s safety.

The MONUSCO force commander, Mirhanda Filho, advises the Iturians to have faith in MONUSCO’s dedication to their protection.

“I would like to reaffirm our commitment to the protection of the Ituri people. I am unable to share with you our particular plan of action at this time. But I would like to appeal to the populace to have faith in us and our dedication to their security.

MONUSCO will also reassure Commander Mirhanda Filho on the FARDC’s increased operational capability in advance of the UN mission’s departure.

General Johnny Luboya, the provincial governor of Ituri, announced that military operations against armed militants opposed to the peace process would soon resume.
On next operations, we came to an understanding.

The province governor gave the assurance that “we will neutralize them” for those who still possess weapons, particularly hostile foreign troops.
