The North Kivu province’s integrated transitional provincial team (EPIT) has officially been set up in Goma as of Thursday, June 15. EPIT is in charge of the MONUSCO according to Okapi radio.
This team, which is co-chaired by the military governor of the Nord-Kivu and the MONUSCO/Goma bureau chief, is made up of twelve people, including six from the provincial government, six from MONUSCO, and national representatives from the United Nations system.
This institution has been tasked with overseeing the MONUSCO of the DRcongo and transitioning the RDC to gradual exit.
Lt. Gen. Constant Ndima, the governor of the Nord-Kivu, issued a call prior to the formation of this team, urging people, especially young people, to “not force an open door,” alluding to many instances of vandalism committed against the property of the United Nations peace keepers.
The General Constant Ndima emphasized that the MONUSCO is not an external force to the RDC, which is a member of the United Nations and specifically spoke to the youth of the North Kivu.
The workshop attendees, including Mme Isabelle Pendeza from the civil society, criticized the lack of equality within the assembled team while also supporting the implementation of the EPIT/Nord-Kivu.
There was no involvement from women. Le Général Constant Ndima has insisted that MONUSCO is not an external force to the DRCONGO, which is an effective member of the United Nations. The civil society is also invited as a consultative party rather than as a party to participate in decisions. In fact, he specifically addressed the young people of the North Kivu.
