News from Minembwe, known as the capital of Mulenge in South Kivu, reports that a coalition of Congolese forces attempted to launch an attack in areas inhabited by the Banyamulenge but was repelled immediately.
The area where this coalition of RDC forces tried to carry out the attack on the morning of last Sunday, Easter Sunday of the year 2025, is Kalongi.
Kalongi is located in the eastern part of the Minembwe commune, and it is also at the edge of the territory inhabited by the Banyamulenge, as anyone leaving it enters forests that lead to areas of Mutambara inhabited by Abababembe.
The information states that this coalition of Congolese forces, in launching that attack, clashed with the Twirwaneho and M23 forces that were on guard, and then received a lesson.
Reports indicate that the fighting between both sides did not last ten minutes, as this coalition of Congolese forces quickly retreated.
This enemy that launches attacks in neighborhoods inhabited by the Banyamulenge in Mikenke and other neighborhoods of the Minembwe commune originates from the Zero, Gipupu, and Abijombo areas.
This enemy, as this information continues to state, is made up of Burundian troops, Congolese forces, and armed groups including FDLR and Wazalendo.
Although the Banyamulenge living in Minembwe indicate that the attacks come from Gipupu, Bijombo, and the Zero area, they also say that when the city of Uvira is taken from the hands of this coalition of Congolese forces, that is when the war will end for them.
Twirwaneho and M23 recently took the entire Rugezi area, which was home to the enemy launching attacks in Marango located in the southwestern part of the Minembwe commune.
The person who provided us with this information emphasized that Rugezi and all its surroundings are controlled by Twirwaneho and M23.
Meanwhile, in Minembwe, there is peace, and the local leadership continues to carry out development activities, after the area was captured by the Twirwaneho and M23 groups on 21/02/2025.
