The attack by the coalition of the armed forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo launched in Mikenke received a harsh lesson from the Twirwaneho group
This area is also largely inhabited by the Banyamulenge, although there are some Babembe living there, but they are not as many as the Banyamulenge.
In February of this year, 2025, this area of Mikenke was liberated by Twirwaneho after heavy fighting that drove out the Congolese and Burundian forces stationed there.
Mikenke is located about nine kilometers from the center of Minembwe, known as the capital of Mulenge.
Around 7:30 AM this Wednesday morning, the coalition of Congolese forces launched an attack, but Twirwaneho and M23 pushed them back, and reports indicate that this coalition suffered significant losses.
According to these reports, this attack by the coalition of Congolese forces, which includes FARDC, FDLR, Burundian forces, and Wazalendo, was met with alertness from Twirwaneho and M23 fighters, which led to the impetus for inflicting casualties on the attackers.
The senior official continues to say that this has been restored again when it came from the areas of Cyohagati. Besides the fact that this coalition has been pushed back, it also lost many soldiers whose bodies were counted in the lines in that area where they fought.
This attack comes following others by this coalition of Congolese forces that recently launched assaults in the areas of Kalingi and Gakangala. These attacks by the Twirwaneho group and M23 ended with them being pushed back.
Additionally, it is known that the Twirwaneho group and M23 do not usually face attacks without being defeated, as they are always countered by this coalition of Congolese forces.
