
On May 12, DRC President Felix Tshisekedi ruled off the possibility of the country leaving the East African Community (EAC).

Félix Tchisekedi made this statement while speaking with the Gaborone, Botswana-based Congolese community.
According to Félix Tshisekedi, the DRC’s admission to this subregional organisation was a direct answer to the urgent request of the Congolese residing in the country’s eastern area, where intense commercial activity is practised.
According to the President of the Republic, the DRC joined the EAC in good faith to promote international commerce and give the Congolese access to the advantages of unrestricted trade and migration.
The DRC’s strategic location between the Atlantic and Indian seas, the first Congolese declared, “This decision has been carefully considered,” adding that he did not regret it.
The Congolese Head of State declared, “The current Rwandan attack against our nation is a conjunctural circumstance generated by the dignitaries of the government now in control in our country.
According to the presidential news release, President Tshisekedi expressed continued optimism that Rwanda will one day be governed by a non-belligerent leader who will uphold peaceful, cordial ties with the DRC.
He then restated his thoughts on the EAC’s regional force in front of his fellow countrymen and urged them to maintain hope in the FARDC’s resolve and the SADC military force’s willingness to assist in ending Rwanda’s aggression.
Following the opening of the new DRC embassy in the capital of Botswana, the President of the Republic and the Congolese diaspora in Gaborone had this discussion.
