The team of experts comprising Minembwe Capital News agency, has published an informative survey of how Banyamulenge people were killed massively while the Kinshasa government keeps it’s blind eye on it.
Among the facts of this related genocide it was since the 1960, but we shall basically we shall show up what happened in the year 2017 up to today 2023.
Banyamulenge ( Tutsi), were massively killed sorrowfully in these years named above which clearly shows up a planed genocide against them as the Congolese national army and international communities keeps silence on this .
Banyamulenge are people from the Tutsi ethnicity who are normally congolese who arrived in this country in 1572 and 1575, we get this information from the Alexis Kagame’s Book , described to have come in three groups namely:
- Some who came looking for pastures for their livestock merely cows. Amongst Serugabika is thought to be the first one to arrive in Mulenge in 1572.
- Those who fled Rwanda for the rampant famine that was raging in the country.
- Those who fled Rwandan Kingship conflicts between Ndoli and Bamara alongside his son named Byinshi amidst 1678 where Banyabyinshi clan had dominated the confrontations.
Banyamulenge are originally from three countries namely Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania but in the book written by Mutambo Uganda was inclusive for their originality.
In 1959,1960 and 1964 it was by then that a militia group was established named “Mayi Ya Mulele”, formed purposely to kill Banyamulenge and forcibly sending them back from where they came from as this group would proclaim it by themselves which was made up of different tribes of the area, namely Babembe and Bapfurero.
It was by then that genocide plots and massive killings started against Banyamulenge by their fellow congolese for the motive of being Tutsi, Banyamulenge tribe also formed an Auto defence/ self defense and named it “ Abagiriye “, and they were supported by the regime that was leading of Mubutu Seseko Kukungwendo Wazabanga, which evenly gave Banyamulenge citizenship in 1971.
These killing never stopped as Banyamulenge murdered they would also defend themselves from the rest of neighboring communities, until they conquered the war that was named “ first Mulele “. It was in the 1964 and 1970.
In 1996 Banyamulenge tribe people,were given days and hours to evacuate DRC’s land as the South KIVU governor Anatole Bishikwabo Chubaka announced the time remaining to start killing Banyamulenge, it was by then that Banyamulenge who were abroad in other countries started coming back for the rescue of their relatives among them was Kibinda Nicolas, Gakunzi Sendonda and Colonel Rugazura .
Banyamulenge were killed massively in the highlands of Mulenge Kilumba, Gatongo specifically among others.
In 2017 and 2023 thousands of Banyamulenge were killed for the motive of being Tutsi merely killed by Maimai Bishabumbuke militia group that is formed up by different tribes namely: Babembe, Banyindu and Bapfurero.
In Matanganyika , Fizi territory that is South KIVU, in 2018 26 Banyamulenge who were cattle keepers where slaughtered by Bapfurero who were led by colonel Kareremba and Kazadi who were lately shot and died too.
On April 18th 2020, two Banyamulenge women were slaughtered with machetes by Bapfurero from maimai Bishabumbuke militia group. The women were namely Nyamwiza Francine 38 years old who left 8 children and her neighbor Nyamutarutwa wife of Niyonzima who deceased by 24 years old.
Adonne Gicondo 38 years old man was also killed the same day by the Congolese national army FARDC 12th Brigade les by Gen Dieudonné Muhima.
December 09th Major Rugenerwa Joseph Kaminzobe was burt to ashes in a place called Murerwa , Fizi territory in South KIVU province, he was pulled out of the military envoy that was heading to Uvira.
July 01st 2021, the following were killed:
- 62 old woman Nyamuhoza
- 72 old Nagaju Véronique.
3 72 old Royi Nagabiro
4 . 38 years old Natabara Aimée .
These four Banyamulenge women, were shot in Minembwe centre by the Congolese national army FARDC of 12th Brigade who were led by Gen Opio Patrick by then who gave out the order to kill these women was Lt General Philemon Yves as he was having a military mission in minembwe.
On the same day other two Banyamulenge young men were killed namely:
- Nzabinesha Ndagiro.
- Bitwenge Mfashingabo, both were in 30’s years old.
November 07th 2022, Congolese national army. from the 12th brigade which was led by colonel Rugabisha Alexis, killed by shoot a Munyamulenge pastor named Muzima who was from the Bible institute of Runundu.
Rutare René yagabo was killed in Kiziba village Feb 15th. 2023 as he was in his shamba/ garden was killed by the Congolese national army Forces FARDC that serves from Kiziba.
The eye witnesses said that near his body, a military cap and a rop that was used to strangle him was found nearby his body.
October 09th 2022, in Minembwe, Runundu village FARDC forces from the 12th Brigade which was led by colonel Rugabisha Alexis slaughtered with machetes a 14 years old boy and they took his parts to show the public.
December 25th 2022, Maimai killed by shooting Dr Kimararungu Merci from Kirungwa as he was mounting the highlands of mulenge from Uvira Town.
June 19th 2022 a commercial munyamulenge named Ntayoberwa Fidèle was killed in Kalima that is Kindu, he was burt to ashes and his body was eaten as a blue band for the bread.
The reports from different Mulenge leaders is that more than 200, were killed by recent confrontations and 12 others jailed for the motive of being Banyamulenge.
