The FPIC militia pledged on Friday, August 18, that it will stop assaulting citizens and attacking government structures in Ituri.
During a democratic discussion conducted in Mwanga, Irumu territory (Ituri), this armed group pledged its support.
The FPIC also pledged not to use illegitimate barriers to obstruct politicians’ ability to conduct an open and free election campaign.
The commanders of the FPIC militia and a few notables and political actors of the Bira community came to the agreement that “the notables, political actors, as well as members of the Bira society who will collaborate with the FPIC armed group will be arrested and tried by judicial authorities.”
To make the paper including all of these resolutions taxable and legally binding, it will be notarized.
Also, the militia’s leaders must turn over any members of its ranks who are abusing the general public.
In the event that doesn’t happen, they’ll be held legally accountable for the crimes their subordinates commit.
The military governor of the Irumu area and the 32nd military region’s commander both participated in this democratic discussion. Okapi radio reports.
