IN CENTRAL NIGERIA GUNMEN HAVE KILLED A POLICE CHIEF, AND SEVEN OTHERS.
In central Nigeria gunmen have killed more 8 people, one of them is said to be a divisional police chief. This comes before the presidential and parliamentary elections, this was reported by police and security agencies on Wednesday.
It is believed that especially in the northern parts of Nigeria, a persistent insecurity has been a threat to voters because of these violence on roads, villages and mostly rampant kidnapps.
Police in Benue state made a response to such distressing call after gunmen blocked the markurdi – naka road, which made passengers and other travelers to runaway, as said by the benue state police spokesperson Catherine sewuese,anene.
Anene stated further that there was an interruption of divisional police officers for naka Town a team of officers led by mamud abubakar, which engaged in a gunfight with the armed gangs.
The divisional police officer who led this team was able to sustain the gunshot injuries and he was rushed to general hospital nakawhere he was lately confirmed dead.
Two more police officers were shot and were killed instantly during the fight. As the gunmen retreated they killed two other children and three women in a village nearby.
