Following the resumption of the bombing on Wednesday, the besieged enclave launched a salvo of retaliation rockets into southern Israel.
According to local media, at least one additional Palestinian was injured in the southern Gaza Strip, east of Khan Yunis. The victims were not confirmed to be PIJ members by the organisation.
The Israeli airstrikes hit many places throughout the besieged enclave, including in the south and the north, as well as a number of PIJ movement points.
While Palestinian media claimed that the retaliatory rockets came “under the name of the [Gaza] factions’ joint room,” which includes Hamas and other Gaza-based armed groups, Arabic media reported that Hamas, the group in charge of the Strip, claimed that the rockets launched from Gaza were a response to the “massacre committed by the Israeli occupation.”
Israeli officials ordered residents of communities near the Gaza line to leave or stay within shelters.
Because of these barrages, “there have been instructions [from authorities] in the last few moments for people to stay inside shelters,” he added. “Many communities have been urged to leave this area,”
A 17-year-old Palestinian was shot in the chest during the attack and taken to the hospital by Israeli soldiers, who also murdered two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank village of Qabatiya.
The incident comes a day after 15 Palestinians, including four children, were killed by Israeli troops during an operation they said was aimed at three PIJ commanders in Gaza City and its surrounds.
