Klopp feels that signing Mac Allister, who cost Argentinos Juniors only £4 million in January 2019, is adequate recompense for abandoning the pursuit of Jude Bellingham, who was valued at £130 million. The current favourites to sign him are Real Madrid.
Aurelien Tchoumeni was a transfer target for Liverpool last summer, but Real Madrid isn’t interested in unloading the 23-year-old player they acquired from Monaco.
“But I’m incredibly glad to get up and prove again that we can accomplish amazing things. Six consecutive victories is a rare accomplishment; if it had been simple, our squad and other teams would have achieved it far more frequently.
“Adding the seventh is even more challenging, but eight and nine are really challenging because it’s football and other teams prepare for the games well and have their own targets, but this part of the season gave us a clear indication we are still there.”
“Not everything about us and the world around us is negative. Even if we had a poor season, let’s examine what we can learn from it.
However, the Reds have recently recovered their form, and Klopp is thrilled that his team has finally been able to turn things around.
“I think everyone in this room would agree that we had a terribly horrible season, but we still have 62 points. In the lead up to his team’s Monday matchup with Leicester, Klopp observed, “It is unusual.
“The lads still possess quality. I’m so glad we were able to participate a little. In the end, it really doesn’t matter where it goes. I completely understand that everyone wants to play in the Champions League because that is what I want as well, but given the circumstances we put ourselves in, it is just not likely.
