According to Hot News an unexpected turn of events, Gap Inc., the renowned international clothing and accessory company, has filed a lawsuit demanding $2 million in damages against African-American rapper-turned-mogul Kanye West and his brand Yeezy.
Their contract, which abruptly ended in September 2022, is the basis for the legal dispute because there are claimed breaches.
West openly declared the end of the relationship between his firm, Yeezy, and Gap about eight months ago.
Gap transfers the claim to West and makes him accountable for any harm these modifications cause.
In related news, sportswear behemoth Adidas, which severed ties with rapper-turned-business mogul Kanye West in October of last year after his antisemitic remarks, has revealed intentions to liquidate its stock of Yeezy sneakers.
The corporation has 500 million Yeezy sneakers worth over $1 billion, which Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden affirmed will be sold over time.
A portion of the sales revenue will be given to charities affected by West’s divisive remarks.
In the first quarter of the 2023 fiscal year, Adidas’ financial performance was significantly impacted by the fallout with West’s brand.
The agreement was terminated because Gap didn’t carry out its responsibilities, which included distributing Yeezy products in Gap stores by the second half of 2021 and opening exclusive Yeezy Gap locations.
The focal point of Gap’s case against West and his Yeezy line is a rental property in Los Angeles that Gap is now renting from Art City Center and that has undergone unauthorized renovations.
Unauthorized alterations by West (now known as Ye), which included the construction of a wall, the demolition of three bathrooms, and the addition of an outdoor ramp and tunnel, caused damage to the property.
The case, which was filed last month, asserts that West’s unapproved modifications violated the strategic agreement and made Gap pay costs.
