Roughly one month before the Francophonie games in Kinshasa begin, various media sources claim that the Democratic Republic of the Congo is not yet prepared to host the highly anticipated tournament that pits primarily French-speaking nations.
The charges were disputed and the event should be permitted to go by the director of the national committee for the Francophone Games.
As for the infrastructure, I can promise you that, given the current state of affairs, we are in a position to hold the Games on July 28 and that everything will be in place for this activity. Initially, 149 million dollars were allocated for these projects, but presently, this is being done in order to build all of the infrastructure that will continue to serve our nation. There is no longer any room for doubt because Kinshasa will indeed host the Francophone Games. Isidore Kwandja, the director of the national committee for the Francophone Games, said, “I realize this statement creates a few problems in some people’s minds.
More than 3,000 young athletes and artists from over 40 nations are anticipated to participate in the event, which combines sports and cultural competition, which is slated to take place from July 28 to August 6 in the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
“All of the nations have affirmed again that they would compete in the 9th Francophone Games. According to what we’ve read, Quebec has decided to send a diplomatic mission rather than athletes. I also see that Canada’s New Brunswick has said it would send athletes to Kinshasa, according to Isidore Kwandja, the head of the national committee for the Francophone Games.
With fewer than 30 days until the commencement of the games, Kinshasa is already working against the clock to prepare all of the necessary infrastructure.
The government has also provided security assurances, which has been a worry for significant parties. At least 4500 security personnel will be deployed by DRC during the competition.
