Two Territory in Minembwe were attacked by FARDC, Mai Mai, FDLR, FDNB, and Imbonerakure.
The coalition of armed forces fighting for the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo launched attacks in two areas inhabited by the Banyamulenge in the Minembwe commune, known as the capital of Mulenge in the South Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to reports from those regions.
This coalition includes Burundian troops, Congolese troops, and armed groups such as Wazalendo and FDLR, as well as others affiliated with them, like the Imbonerakure from Burundi.
Early in the morning of Thursday, April 10, 2025, this coalition began launching attacks in the Gahwela area and in Sekaganda.
Both of these areas were targeted by the coalition fighting for the Kinshasa government, located in short distance from the center of Minembwe, while Sekaganda is very close. It is approximately five kilometers from the center of Minembwe, while Gahwela may be up to eight kilometers away.
Reports reaching Minembwe Capital News indicate that the coalition of government-aligned forces launched these attacks from the Musika and Mugashasha sides, which are in the southern part of the Minembwe commune in the Fizi territory.
The information also states that currently, Twirwaneho, in collaboration with the M23 group, is severely attacking the coalition that has launched assaults on the Banyamulenge.
Some reports indicate that this coalition of Congolese forces has begun to fight back, as it has not driven out Twirwaneho and M23 since the war broke out in 2017 in the highlands of Mulenge.
This coalition, fighting for the Kinshasa government, has again launched attacks at a time when, just yesterday, on Wednesday, Twirwaneho and M23 expelled them from the entire Rugezi area, which is now controlled by these two groups that are part of the Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC).
It is known that in 2018, Rugezi was established as a stronghold for FDLR and Mai Mai, and the FARDC leadership played a role in this establishment, according to reports. However, surprisingly, on April 8, 2025, Twirwaneho and M23 destroyed those positions.
The entire Rugezi area is now under the watch of Twirwaneho and M23.
Additionally, these two groups, part of the Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC), also monitor the outskirts of Rugezi located in Gasiro and Nyagatete heading towards Milimba, known as a stronghold of FDLR and Wazalendo.
