In its operation to resist cross-border raiders who infiltrated the country’s Belgorod region from Ukraine and engaged Russian forces for an estimated 24 hours before fleeing Russian territory, Russia has claimed that more than 70 assailants were killed.
The most daring assault on Russian soil since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine last year, Russia claimed to have used jets and artillery on Tuesday to smash the armed groups that crossed the border region.
Russia was compelled to evacuate communities along its border with northeast Ukraine due to violence. Russia has attributed the strike on Ukraine, which Kiev has refuted. Russian armed dissidents, according to the two groups who took responsibility.
Over 70 Ukrainian nationalists had been slain, according to the Russian military, who also claimed to have destroyed four armored vehicles. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, reported that one civilian had died “at the hands of the Ukrainian armed forces”.

Russian authorities claim that nine border communities were evacuated during the fighting.
While Kiev denied any involvement, members of two anti-Kremlin organizations, the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), claimed responsibility for the raid.
Ganna Malyar, the deputy minister of defense for Ukraine, declared on Tuesday that “We are not waging war on foreign territories.”
A camouflaged spokesperson, accompanied by armed soldiers wearing fatigues, declared: “Russia will be free!” in a video that was allegedly published by the Freedom of Russia Legion on Monday.
