The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo are set to live together in peace without chaos.
This was included in the responses Trump gave to a journalist who recently asked him what he expects from the agreements Rwanda and the DRC recently made in the United States.
In response to this question, Trump said: “We have good news about Rwanda and DRC. I believe we are going to see peace in the relationship between Rwanda and Congo, and a few other countries are close to achieving that peace. We hope it will be good and we expect it to work.”
This comes after Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivier Nduhungurehe, and his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Thérèse Kayikwamba, signed a historic agreement between the two countries.
Furthermore, both parties have agreed to prepare a peace agreement project to be reviewed by both sides no later than May 2, 2025.
The signing of this agreement took place in Washington DC, United States, and was significantly facilitated by the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
This pleased President Donald Trump, who expressed pride in continuing to play a role in stopping wars and other conflicts around the world.
The United States was able to bring together Rwanda and Congo after Qatar played a significant role in connecting Rwandan President Paul Kagame with his Congolese counterpart, Felix Tshisekedi, who agreed to eliminate the bad atmosphere between their countries. Meanwhile, talks held in Luanda, Angola, which started in 2022 and continued until the end of 2024, showed that both sides had failed to reach an agreement.
