As a case of promoting favorable conditions for the sustained return of Congolese and Rwandan refugees to their respective countries, the DRC and Rwanda commit to starting a constructive discussion.

On Monday, May 15, in Geneva, Switzerland, representatives from two nations and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) met to discuss the plans for this repatriation.
The delegations were led by the DRC’s Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs and Francophonie, Christophe Lutundula, the Republic of Rwanda’s Minister for Emergency Management, Marie Kayisire Solange, and the High Commissioner, Fillippo Grandi.
This brought up the issue of addressing the difficulties related to the security of the returned individuals, to the sharing of information on the living situations in the return places, including community sensitization and reintegration.
In line with the pertinent agreements, the DRC and Rwanda further agree to maintain their commitment to ensuring asylum access for those in need of international protection.
The two nations also agree to hold a technical meeting in Nairobi within a month of Monday, May 15, with the goals of defining the specific procedures for the reactivation of all the structures and commitments outlined in the 2010 Tripartite Agreements and creating an associated global roadmap.
the process of enabling the voluntary return of refugees from the DRC and Rwanda to their home countries should be restarted in accordance with the guiding principles and methods already outlined in the text of the 2010 Tripartite Agreements.
All three parties signed a joint statement at the conclusion of the tripartite meeting. This treaty states that the two governments specifically agree to uphold the idea of voluntary return in safety and dignity and to acknowledge the right of return.
