SADC had agreed on sending it’s troops in Eastern DRCongo despite EAC summits and deployment of it’s troops for holding on by intermidiating the warring parties that where causing mass destruction to the congolese people.
The congolese officials led by the president of the republic Felix tchisekedi have already raised concern of retreating the EAC forces and evacuate them out of their land.
SADC forces are anticipated to take over the peace keeping mission in DRC as EACRF has the rejected the proposition to fight M23 but rather ceasing fire and come to the table of negotiations to find a long lasting solution
Thus the Progressive Republican Dynamic (DYPRO) hailed the Head of State’s declaration that “the possibility of the withdrawal, albeit late, of the EAC Force from the DRC in June of this year” on Thursday, May 11.
On May 11, Constant Mutamba, the leader of this political platform, made a statement in Kinshasa during a news conference.
“We appreciated the Head of State’s position, which is in accordance with our own position that we stated a few months ago but that the administration was hesitant to implement, particularly on the evacuation of the East African Community (EAC) forces from Congolese land. We remark that this is a late comeback that needs to be avoided moving forward,” said Constant Mutamba.
During a conference on Wednesday, May 10, in Bostwana, Felix Tshisekedi had stated the following on the EAC’s strength:
“If, in June, we decide that the mandate has not been carried out, we will choose to accompany and thank these contingents who have rescued the DRC,” the press release reads.
