Yevgeny Prigozhin, the commander of the Russian Wagner Group, made the stunning statement that his troops will leave their positions in the troubled city of Bakhmut, the scene of the bloodiest and longest combat of the Ukraine War, on May 10 owing to a shortage of ammunition.

In a video, Prigozhin berated Russian defence officials while standing between the dead remains of Russian soldiers, accusing them of causing the men’s deaths. It remains to be seen if Wagner will adhere to its declared strategy.
Once more, Sergey Lavrov blamed Washington and Kiev for the attempted drone assault on the Kremlin on Wednesday, stating that any nation with any decency would at this point cease communicating with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In a video statement released by his press staff, Prigozhin is surrounded by masked Wagner troops and declares, “My soldiers will not suffer senseless and unjustified losses in Bakhmut without ammunition.”
The Wagner warriors will disperse on May 10, 2023, he added, adding that they will do so “until the Russian people need us again.”
Since the summer of 2022, Wagner has assumed a prominent position in the battle for the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, which despite hundreds of casualties on both sides has not yet been completely overrun by Russia.
Military analysts say that Russian soldiers in Ukraine are turning to the defence in preparation for a massive Ukrainian onslaught after a spring offensive that mainly failed to achieve any meaningful territory gains.
