After the events of yesterday, on Wednesday, Twirwaneho, together with M23, fought against the coalition of Congolese forces which fled. Today, they have reappeared and are preparing to launch attacks on the Twirwaneho and M23 groups.
The attacks by the coalition of Congolese forces occurred yesterday, April 16, 2025, targeting the positions of Twirwaneho and M23 in Mikenke, launched from various areas in Mwenga and Fizi.
One attack originated from the Turemberembe area, while another came from Kivogerwa but was launched from the south in Lulenge, specifically from Mibunda.
Additionally, another attack came from Gipupu, which had previously attempted to engage with Twirwaneho, although it ultimately retreated.
Other reports indicate that an attack from the Bilalombili side, which involved Burundian soldiers and fighters from the FDLR group, did not engage in combat but instead established positions in the Bilalombili area.
Other sources indicate that it is located in a place called Ngenzi, while others have it in Rwitsankuku, which is a short distance from here in Bilalombili.
The report further states that on the morning of Thursday, April 17, 2025, these government soldiers stationed in this area of Bilalombili woke up to show Twirwaneho and M23 that they intend to launch attacks against them.

This is while they are advancing on the hills adjacent to those controlled by Twirwaneho and M23.
Testimonies say: “the Congolese forces and their allies are gathering for attacks. They are advancing on the hills adjacent to where we are.”
However, up to now, there has been no sound of gunfire, although it is apparent that both sides are prepared to confront each other.
Since Twirwaneho took this area of Mikenke at the end of February 2025, this coalition of Congolese forces has continued to carry out attacks from below, but this group continues to control a large part of it, as well as other areas on its outskirts.
Additionally, the center of this area of Mikenke is also controlled by the Twirwaneho and M23 groups, which carry out activities that assist the local population, as these groups engage in community service aimed at cleaning the area, and business activities are also conducted well both for the local residents and the traders
