The Democratic Republic of Congo has suspended cooperation with those linking it to the United States in discussions regarding the mining and processing of minerals.
In February of this year 2025, the DRC began engaging in mediation talks with the Earhart Turner LLC organization based in Washington DC.
The Earhart Turner organization had recently been established, having signed a six-month contract with the Congolese government, paid for 5 million US dollars.
Earhart Turner was tasked with representing the Kinshasa government in talks with members of the legislative goals of the United States, as well as other entities in the country, assisting it with special announcements and research and analysis related to security.
These discussions aimed to request the United States to provide assistance in safeguarding the security of the DRC, which has been compromised by armed groups, and to build its military, while also promising to mine and process minerals. here you can read our recent post about US mineral deal with DRC
On Monday, April 7, 2025, the spokesperson for President Felix Tshisekedi, Tina Salama, announced that his country has put on hold direct cooperation talks with the United States.
She stated that Tshisekedi has halted all agreements the Kinshasa government had with American mediation organizations, including Earhart Turner.
She said: “For this reason, President Felix Tshisekedi has suspended the new directive regarding all agreements and the steps taken between the DRC and American mediation organizations, including Earhart Turner.”
This decision was made by the Kinshasa government after receiving a U.S. delegation led by the advisor on cooperation with Africa, Massad Boulos, who had promised the DRC to continue discussions on this cooperation.
