Kasekwa Jean Baptiste the Goma member of Parliament has expressed disappointment over elections failure to poll into some parts of the country as a sign of Balkanization of the Congo also indicated it as the Tchisekedi’s governance inability to safeguard the country’s Territories.
The Goma-born national deputy Jean-Baptiste Kasekwa said that he would not be running in the next December elections.
Despite his popularity in Goma, where he was the second best elected in 2018, where he is a close friend of Martin Fayulu, this rival has decided to abstain from the elections. On Saturday, July 15, 2023, he made the announcement at a conference-debate that the young people in his electoral district had planned.
By making this choice, Jean-Baptiste Kasekwa follows Martin Fayulu and denounces Felix Tshisekedi’s “inability of Felix Tshisekedi” to put an end to the M23 war while also calling for the easing of the siege in Ituri and North Kivu.
Accepting to apply for a disorganized election that excludes a portion of the national territory is condoning the Balkanization of the Congo, said Mr. Kasekwa, a member of Martin Fayulu’s Commitment for Citizenship. “I demand the lifting of the state of siege and to express my solidarity with the populations of Rutshuru, Masisi, and Nyiragongo who are excluded from the current electoral process because of the inability of Felix Tshisekedi’s regime to end the hostilities in the region
