C64 Postpones Submission of Its Court Complaint: Decision Driven by Need to Strengthen Evidence and Legal Grounds in Its Case
The opposition coalition Coalition Article 64 (C64) has announced that it has temporarily postponed the submission of its complaint, which was scheduled to be filed with judicial authorities. This was communicated through a provisional statement released in Kinshasa on 08/06/2026.
According to the coalition, this decision was taken in order to incorporate new legal evidence and additional factual elements that have emerged in recent days, as well as supplementary documents and information collected by members of the group. C64 states that its objective is to present a complete, robust, and legally sound case file, supported by indisputable evidence, in order to ensure that its action carries significant weight within the legal framework.
The C64 coalition brings together several prominent political figures from the opposition, including Martin Fayulu, Jean-Marc Kabund, Moïse Katumbi, Augustin Matata Ponyo, and Delly Sesanga. It maintains that it remains committed to its primary objective of defending the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Congo and promoting a rule-of-law-based governance system.
In its communication, the coalition also states that it continues its efforts to mobilize citizens and strengthen political cooperation with governance institutions, with the aim of opposing what it describes as actions that could undermine the Constitution or distort the functioning of state institutions.
Although the submission of the complaint has been postponed, C64 insists that this does not alter its political stance. It affirms that it remains committed to its principles of defending the country and the law, and that it will continue its activities in full compliance with legal procedures.
In its own words, the coalition stated: “C64 will continue, with transparency, professionalism, and integrity, all necessary actions to fulfill its mission in the general interest of the Republic.”
Since its creation, the Coalition Article 64 (C64) has positioned itself as a significant platform bringing together various opposition forces against the government in Kinshasa. It continues to present itself as a key actor in monitoring respect for the law and promoting democratic governance, particularly at a time when the DRC is engaged in ongoing debates and discussions about its institutional future and upcoming elections.
