MRDP-Twirwaneho Captain Ndinzabera Issues Strong Warning to Kinshasa and Gitega
MINEMBWE CAPITAL NEWS (MCN)
As the security situation continues to deteriorate in the highlands of Fizi Territory, South Kivu Province, as well as in several other parts of the province, Captain Ndinzabera Mayunga, one of the military commanders of MRDP-Twirwaneho, has issued a strongly worded statement directed at the governments of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Burundi. He declared that the ongoing military operations in the region should come to an end, warning that failure to do so would result in what he described as “a severe lesson.”
In his written statement, Captain Ndinzabera first extended his greetings to residents across the region and expressed his sympathy, particularly to the Banyamulenge community, whom he said have continued to bear the heavy consequences of the conflict.
He stated:
“I would first like to extend my greetings to everyone wherever they may be. I also wish to express my deepest sympathy to the Banyamulenge people for the hardships and suffering they have endured during this period of war. We have been targeted by the Congolese government, together with the Burundian government, Wazalendo, and the Interahamwe.”
Captain Ndinzabera went on to accuse the parties he holds responsible for the conflict of committing serious acts, including the killing of civilians, the looting of property, and the destruction of Banyamulenge villages.
In his statement, he delivered a direct message to the authorities in Kinshasa and Gitega, asserting that any attempt to remove the Banyamulenge from what he described as their ancestral homeland would not succeed.
He said:
“I am telling the governments of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi that your plans to drive us from our land will never succeed. You will end up disgraced.”
He also called on the Burundian government to immediately withdraw its troops from the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, warning that failure to do so would result in humiliation.
He stated:
“I call on the Government of Burundi to immediately withdraw its troops from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. If you refuse, you will return home in disgrace.”
Captain Ndinzabera further claimed that the authorities in Kinshasa would likewise face humiliation for what he described as relying on foreign forces in the ongoing conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
He added that the time had come, in his view, for those attacking the Banyamulenge community to be repelled, emphasizing that MRDP-Twirwaneho would continue its military campaign until the people it says it is defending are able to live in safety.
These remarks come as clashes continue to be reported across parts of Fizi and Mwenga territories, as well as other areas of South Kivu Province, where the various parties involved in the conflict continue to present differing accounts of the military situation on the ground.
This report is based on a statement issued by Captain Ndinzabera Mayunga of MRDP-Twirwaneho.
