The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, recently received Massad Boulos, the senior advisor to President Donald Trump of the United States, they discussed the insecurity in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
On April 8, 2025, President Kagame welcomed Massad Boulos, shortly after he had met with Tshisekedi of the DRC.
It is known that Massad Boulos is a senior advisor to President Donald Trump regarding Africa.
The office of the President of Rwanda conveyed a message after Boulos had met with President Paul Kagame, stating that “their discussions are beneficial for cooperation aimed at sustainable peace in the Great Lakes region, as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing U.S. investment in key sectors in Rwanda and the entire region.”
Massad, on his first visit to Africa as Trump’s advisor on Africa, after being received by President Paul Kagame, stated that the Trump administration has continued to support peace in the Great Lakes region.
He said: “President Kagame and I discussed the vision for close cooperation, based on stability and peace, as these are the foundation for economic development.”
Boulos stated that Tshisekedi in the DRC, President Museveni of Uganda, President Ruto of Kenya, and Paul Kagame of Rwanda noted that it is essential for this region to have peace. Read our recent story about US and DRC
He also mentioned the investment activities of American companies operating in Rwanda and the region, and how they need to operate in a stable peace in this area.
He said: “There are many American businesses that have already invested in Rwanda, based on the vision of being at the forefront of the economy. We are ready to work with Rwanda to achieve this goal, which is why it is crucial to find a solution to the conflicts in Eastern Congo, in order to eliminate barriers to the existing opportunities.”
He concluded by thanking Rwanda for its contribution to peace on the African continent, and also thanked the United States for supporting the resolution of all conflicts through peaceful means.
