THE DEATH OF COLONEL RUTERERA CONTINUES TO SPARK SORROW: CAPTAIN NDINZABERA COMFORTS THE BANYAMULENGE COMMUNITY, CALLS FOR UNITY AND RESILIENCE

The death of Colonel Ruterera, who was detained at Ndolo Prison in Kinshasa, continues to cause deep sorrow and generate discussions among the Banyamulenge community and among those closely following political and security issues in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
In a message sent to Minembwe Capital News, Captain Ndinzabera Mayunga, one of the soldiers of MRDP-Twirwaneho led by General Charles Sematama, also known as Intare Batinya, expressed his deep grief following the death of Colonel Ruterera. He extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and to the Banyamulenge community as a whole.
He stated:
“Greetings to you, Mr. Journalist of Minembwe Capital News. We received the heartbreaking news that Colonel Ruterera has passed away. This news has deeply saddened me, but there is nothing else we can do except remain strong and patient during this difficult time.”
Captain Ndinzabera continued by describing the death of Colonel Ruterera as a significant loss to the Banyamulenge community, portraying him as a person regarded as courageous, dedicated, and committed to his responsibilities.
He said:
“I extend my condolences to all Banyamulenge wherever they are. It is painful to hear that Colonel Ruterera died while in Ndolo Prison. I knew him as a brave person who was passionate and committed. To you journalists, please convey our condolences to his family and to the entire Banyamulenge community.”
In his message, Captain Ndinzabera also addressed issues surrounding Colonel Ruterera’s detention and shared his perspective on the broader challenges related to the situation and governance affecting the Banyamulenge community in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to information gathered by Minembwe Capital News, Colonel Ruterera was arrested in 2023 and was later transferred to Ndolo Prison in Kinshasa. To date, the full reasons behind his detention have not been officially disclosed by the relevant authorities.
It was on July 16, 2026, that reports of his death began circulating. A member of Colonel Ruterera’s family told Minembwe Capital News that prison authorities informed them that he had died from an illness he had been suffering from for a short period of time. However, the family stated that since his arrest, they had never received detailed explanations regarding the reasons for his detention or the nature of the illness that led to his death.
The death of Colonel Ruterera has once again raised concerns about the conditions of detainees in prisons across the Democratic Republic of Congo, issues related to justice, and respect for human rights.
