Minembwe Once Again Enters a Difficult Period Following Attacks That Injured Civilians and Damaged Homes
Reports coming from the mountainous Mulenge region, particularly in the Minembwe area, indicate that fighting and insecurity continue to escalate, with allegations of drone attacks targeting villages inhabited by Banyamulenge civilians in the Rundu area.
According to these reports, the attacks are said to have been carried out by a coalition involving the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), alongside Burundian forces and armed groups including Wazalendo and the FDLR.
Sources further state that from the early morning hours until evening, drones were repeatedly used to launch attacks on different parts of Rundu, causing widespread panic and fear among residents.
Local residents say the clashes were marked by heavy gunfire and explosions, forcing many civilians to flee in search of safety.
The reports also indicate that the attacks caused significant damage to civilian property, including homes, and that a 57-year-old Banyamulenge woman was injured.
One resident from the area stated:
“From morning until evening, drones kept flying over the area, dropping bombs on different parts of Rundu.”
Another resident added:
“A woman was injured, and many houses were destroyed because of the explosions.”
At this time, no independent body or government authority has released a detailed report confirming or denying these allegations. However, residents of the area say living conditions continue to deteriorate, with many people fleeing their homes out of fear that further attacks may occur.
